The Long County Blue Tide golf team took on Claxton at Cherokee Rose Country Club on Thursday, March 29 and dominated the Tigers. In the match, Tide junior Rence Skipper set a school record on the links.

Skipper has been the leading shooter for the Tide since his freshman year and everything seems to be paying off for him. In Thursday’s match, he shot a school record 37, a 9-hole 1-over, at Cherokee Rose, en route to a dominant 190-282 victory over the Tigers.

Skipper was helped out in the match by Tyler Barton, Adam Fuentes and Clayton Marchand who shot 48, 49, and 56 respectively in the dominant win.

The boys have now won eight straight matches since opening the season with a loss to Tattnall County. In those matches, Skipper has been the clear leader with a 42 average.

On the girls’ side, they stayed undefeated with an 11-stroke victory over Claxton. They won 155-166 with Brianna Copes leading with a 50.

Savannah Wells and Arryah Vaughn shot a 52 and 53 to help out the Lady Tide to the victory. They are now 6-0 on the season after the win.

The teams will be off for spring break before taking on Tattnall County on Tuesday, April 9 at Cherokee Rose, where the boys will look to avenge their only loss of the season and the girls will look to keep their winning ways intact.
