The Long County Rocket League team Flying Tide is on a roll to close out the Spring 2024 season. On Thursday, March 28, they dominated West Laurens 3-0 and they were never really close from the start.

Freshman Demetrious Rivers helped the Flying Tide out to an early 2-0 lead in the first 26 seconds of the game as he scored twice, once off an assist from Isaac Garcia.

Rivers’ fellow freshman Cyrus Tyus followed those two goals up with one of his own to make the score 3-0 just over a minute into the game. Garcia scored the next six goals for the Flying Tide.

The Flying Tide won the first game in the five-game series 13-1 with Garcia adding two more goals and Rivers and Tyus each adding one.

Game 2 was just as dominant for the Flying Tide as they kept the Raiders off the board for the next two games while scoring 17 goals in two games. Garcia scored the first three goals of Game 2 in an 8-0 win.

They won Game 3 9-0 where Tyus and Garcia both scored four goals each. They won the series 3-0 to get to 3-3 on the season.

All told, Garcia scored 18 goals, Tyus scored seven and Rivers scored five.

The Flying Tide now sits just outside the Top 16 going into their off week for spring break. They will be 4-3 going into the final week of the regular season and will likely need a win to secure their place in the state playoffs.

They will play again on Thursday, April 11.
