Shooting reported at Hillery Park

Shooting reported at Hillery Park

A shooting has been reported at Hillery Park in Walthourville. It happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to Walthourville Police Chief Tracey McFadden. The victim was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center, but his condition is unknown. Authorities are on the lookout for the suspects, described as two black males in a white Ford Escort. Anyone with information should call 911. Currently, few details are known about the incident, but the Courier will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

Nearby wreck damaged dealer's cars

Several vehicles were damaged following a vehicle accident Friday on West Oglethorpe and Veterans Parkway in Hinesville. The Liberty Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-RAM dealership had several vehicles damaged on its lot when a pickup truck traveling on West Oglethorpe Highway was involved in an accident  with  another vehicle. The pick up struck used and new trucks, damaging the vehicles.

Kroger drive-through suspect denied bond

 Jenorris McKenzie was denied bond on his first appearance before a magistrate Friday, according to Hinesville Chief of Detectives Maj. Thomas Cribbs. McKenzie is accused of driving his Honda through Kroger on Highway 84 on Wednesday night. No one was hurt in the incident, but the store was heavily damaged.

Three structure fires on 16 hours

Between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday, three structure fires were reported in Liberty and Long counties. No one was injured, but 10 area residents now are without homes. The blazes appear to be unrelated.
