The new sanctuary is almost complete and there is a sense of excitement among members of Gum Branch Baptist, awaiting the opening of the 500-seat sanctuary.   Membership is steadily increasing, and the church is preparing for various events. According the Jackie Moody, longtime church secretary, 20 new members are scheduled to be baptized on today. The new church is scheduled to open in August. Members of the youth ministry are getting ready for a World Changers mission trip to St. Louis in July. About 40 youths and chaperones will participate in the mission to repair houses.
