GLENNVILLE - The 32nd annual Sweet Onion Festival here is set for Saturday and promises to be top even the previous 31.
The day starts with a one-mile fun at 8 a.m. and a 3.1-mile run at 8:30 a.m.
Festival gates at the state Farmers Market on Highway 301 open at 9 a.m. At 10, a parade rolls through downtown and south on 301. U.S. Department of Defense Inspector General Mickey Kicklighter, a Glennville native, will be grand marshal.
The festival, which stays open until 6 p.m., will have more than 100 art and craft exhibitors, as well as carnival rides, games and entertainment. There's also the World Champion Turtle Races.
Besides dishes featuring sweet onions there will be the usual festival fare.
Admission to the grounds is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Active duty military and their families get in free.
For more information, call festival chairman Wayne Dasher at 654-3332 or Pam Waters at 654-2515.
