Former Hinesville Mayor Jim Watson, 85, died Saturday morning at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
The Bulloch County native, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II, moved to Hinesville in 1958 and owned and operated WGML radio station for several years. He also owned and operated the Tastee Freeze in Hinesville and Claxton and was the innkeeper at the Hinesville Holiday Inn for 10 years.
Mr. Watson also served as the mayor of Hinesville and on the city council.
