The Long County Baseball Team took on McIntosh County Academy in Darien Friday, and the road trip obviously did them good.
Led on the mound by Tyler Chambless, the Blue Tide won a dominating game 14-0 in five innings. Taking on the Buccaneers, the right-hander looked good mixing up his pitches and maintaining control all night.  Going the distance the junior got the shutout and picked up the win.
But the team from Ludowici didn't just look good on pitcher's mound as they also put up impressive numbers with the bat.
Bryan Wingate had the big stick going 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Blake Strickland went 3-4 with 3 RBI.  Stetson Strickland went 2-4 with 3 RBI. And Shane White went 2-3 with 2 RBI.
Paul Lewandoski was 2-4 with 2 RBI, Earl Freeman went 1-3 with an RBI, and rounding it out was Jake Durham who went 1-3.
With the win, the Tide's record improved to 9-5 overall and 3-4 in the region.  However, the Blue still need to make up  ground in the 2-AA Region as they currently sit in the fifth spot, behind Pierce County (7-0), Savannah Christian (6-1), Appling County (4-3), and Jeff Davis (4-3).
The 2-AA Region is one of the toughest in the state, which can be seen from 6 of the 8 teams in the region sporting better than an 8-6 record.
The Tide took on the number one team in the state last night, the undefeated Pierce County Bears.  Results from that game were not available in time for this story.
On Friday, Long County travels to Folkston to take on Charlton County High School.  The Indians have an overall record of 8-6, and a 2-AA Region mark of 2-5.  In the last contest between the two teams, the Blue Tide won a close 9-8 game.
The first pitch will be at 6 p.m.
