A season of hits and near perfect pitching catapults the Lady Panthers softball to the playoffs today.
With an overall record of 12-6 and a region record of 6-4, the Lady Panthers are number three in the south and will face the number two team from the north being either Harlem or Thompson.
The action starts at 2 p.m. at Paulsen Stadium in Savannah.
Here is a breakdown of the last three games that helped move the Lady Panthers into the winners’ bracket.

Oct. 9, Panthers at
South Effingham
This was the most challenging team the Lady Panthers have faced the entire season. Although the South Effingham Mustangs won, 9-0, it was not enough to knock the Lady Panthers out of playoff contention. Head coach Jerome standard said the Mustangs are the hardest team to defeat, as they have no weakness in their lineup or their bench players. In the game against the Panthers, the Mustangs’ pitcher pitched a perfect shutout. Standards said that team is one of the most polished he has faced.

Oct. 10, Panthers at Burke County for a double-header
Game one
The Lady Panthers hit hard once again and defeated Burke County in game one by a score of 14-4. Pitching for the game one was Cassie Standard, who had nine strikeouts, three hits and one walk. Leading the heavy hitters was Chelsea O’Quinn, who went two of three with a triple. Tyshunn Williams went two of three with a double, Ashley McRae hit two of four with two singles, and Courtney Miles and Elyssa Lemapu each hit two singles.

Game two
Not letting their game down, the Lady Panthers shutout Burke County in game two, winning 9-0. On the mound was Jacklyn Gonzales who had five strikeouts, two hits and one walk. Standard, Dominique Sibley and Gonzales each hit a single and Nazarene Hines hit a double. Many of the runs in game two were due to walks by the Burke County team.
