Editor, There are 500,000 disabled veterans nationwide, 16,000 of whom are Georgians who are eligible for the VA’s Independent Living Program, which is one of the five tracks of the voc rehab benefit for the most severely disabled veterans. Yet in the past five years, fewer than 250 of Georgia’s disabled veterans have realized the benefit.  
Sen. Isakson, during the past four years, there have been scores of communications sent to you requesting assistance with this problem — in addition to the four personal meets in Savannah, Richmond Hill, Midway and Jesup.  
All have been met with a deaf ear.
Being the only member of the Georgia Congressional Delegation who sits on a Veterans Affairs Committee, you could right this wrongful injustice of disabled veterans.
The recent CBS exposé of the problems disabled veterans are experiencing with the VA’s voc rehab only scratched the surface and validated what we have been telling you for years.
The disabled veterans who served our country honorably and their families deserve something more than a blind eye and a deaf ear.
