The Blue Tide football team is still looking for its first win of the season, but if it happens today, it won’t be in front of the home fans.

The team’s last two games are on the road. Tonight, Long County takes on the Herons in Brantley County. Getting a win in Nahunta won’t be easy.

Brantley comes into the game with an overall record of 5-3 and a Region 2-AA mark of 3-3. They are on a two-game losing streak, having lost to Appling County two weeks ago and Charlton County last week. The Herons only other loss came at the hands of McIntosh County, which is 6-2 and even in that game, Brantley lost by less than a touchdown.

In recent weeks, the Blue Tide has been competitive, scoring more points in the last three games than in their first five games combined. In their last three games, they averaged 23 points, compared with 6 in earlier contests.

On offense, Brantley is averaging 32 points a night, second in Region 2-AA to Charlton County, which is putting up 42 points a game. On defense, the Herons are allowing 23 points a game, which is the region’s third worst. The Tide is giving up 42 points a night.

Despite their losses, the Blue Tide continue to play hard, right up until the final tick of the clock. If Long County is going to upset the Herons, that determination will be an important factor.

Tonight’s game in Nahunta starts at 7:30.
