After the Long County Chamber of Commerce said it would not be able to sponsor the county’s annual Christmas parade this year, Wildlife Festival coordinators decided to host the event.
According to WFC member Kelli Mock, the parade will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.
“We want people to know that the parade will be taking place, and we are encouraging everyone to come out and be a part of the fun,” Mock said.
This year, the parade co-chairwomen are Becky Fowler and Beverly Johnson.
Last year, the parade had 45 entrants and organizers hope to have even more this year. Any group, business, organization or individual interested in entering a float can drop off an entry form at Town and Country Beauty Salon in Ludowici.
The fee to have a float judged is $25, and the cost for all others is $10. All entries are due by Nov. 26.
Last year, the Hinesville Area Board of Realtors’ Wizard of Oz themed float won the best float award. This year, the top three floats will win ribbons and prizes of $75 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third.
For more information, call Fowler at 545-2167 or Johnson at 258-1108.
